April 1, 2004 Howard Supply Company (HSC) announced today they have completed the acquisition of Coppinger Supply, Inc. headquartered in Odessa, TX. Coppinger has been serving the Permian Basin region since 1966 and currently operates three oilfield supply stores located in Odessa, Hobbs, NM and Oklahoma City, OK. Howard has numerous stores throughout the Western US, but this is their first significant operations within the Permian Basin. Howard presently operates a store in Oklahoma City and the two operations will be combined in the future. "We couldn’t be more pleased with the addition of Coppinger & their staff to the Howard Supply family. Larry Bell (Coppinger’s President) and Tommy Bryant (Vice-President) have done a fantastic job finding and retaining employees. Their attention to customers’ needs and the ever changing oilfield market place will make this acquisition nearly seamless," commented Wayne Moody, HSC’s Senior Vice President. Larry Bell added, "Everybody here at Coppinger's is excited about this new opportunity. HSC’s extended product lines will give us a chance for growth and expansion that we just couldn’t accomplish as a stand alone company." Howard Supply offers general oilfield and industrial supplies at all locations and additionally offers machine, fabrication & welding shop services, wire rope spooling, splicing & rigging services, and pipe handling equipment repair at many of their locations. "Although we service the entire oilfield industry, our focus is upon the well servicing and workover segments. Getting established in the Permian Basin has been a major objective of HSC and we are pleased to see it come to fruition," says Moody who has relocated his home and office to Midland from Oklahoma City.
